Works are due to commence shortly on Phase 2 of the Oceansgate development.
The scheme is new industrial units and an office block. The industrial units are split over three buildings, Building 1.5 consists of three units, building 1.6 consists of seven units and building 1.8 consists of six units.
The office block that accompanies the industrial is a three storey office block. The industrial units and office block will be accompanied by external parking and some decorative features.
The contract began on the 26 August and will run for 58 weeks, with a contract completion date of 5 October 2020.
Survey works took place on 19 January – 19 February. Existing service and GPS surveys were undertaken alongside ‘Ring of Confidence’. Excavation of the chapel is to be undertaken to assess the full extent of the remains in the ground.
Realignment works for the heritage access plans are due to start on the 29 April which includes fence realignment and new gates. Asbestos removal /demolition of porter’s lodge is due to start on the 27 August and deep drainage works will also commence on this date.
Substructure, superstructure and internal works for Building 1.4 will start on 7 October for 43 weeks. Work on Building 1.5 will begin on 16 December for 33 weeks and Building 1.6 will start on 21 October for 33 weeks. Finally, work on Building 1.8 will commence on 4 November for 40 weeks.
The external works start date for Building 1.4 is 27 January for 27 weeks and 3 days Building 1.5 starts on 19 June for 8 weeks and 3 days. Building 1.6 begins on 6 January for 29 weeks and 4 days and Building 1.8 begins on 22 April for 14 weeks and 4 days.
During the construction of the buildings there will be out of hours working to power float concrete floors.
